We are the Village It Takes!

Hope Meadows is an intentional, inter-generational neighborhood — the first of its kind — and the model and inspiration for many others like it around the country.

Established in 1994 using housing on a converted military base in central Illinois, Hope Meadows was designed to provide community support to families adopting children from foster care, as well as an opportunity for retirees (and near-retirees) to find meaning and purpose as neighbors, mentors, and “grandparents” in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Hope Meadows’ innovative  housing  and community model has continued to evolve, and today supports not only traditional foster and adoptive families, but also grandparent-led households, foster grand-parenting, and older youth launching into adulthood.
